Rad Parents

FYI I have some pretty rad parents. My parents have been retired for some time now and their lives pretty much revolve around their 3 girls and now grandson! My dad has been finding jobs to do around the house to keep busy (putting wood floor in, making a gym, etc.) and my mother watches my nephew Liam 3 days a week and is a socialite. So when Dennis and I found out that we would be moving to New Jersey my dad volunteered (YES! Volunteered) to drive our car across the country from California to New Jersey in about 5 days. So here is what his crazy trip looked like:

Sacramento--> Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City--> Denver (Picked up my Uncle Tim)
Denver--> Kansas City (Ate at Oklahoma Joes! YUM)
Kansas City--> Indianapolis (Ate at St. Elmo's-hear it was bomb!)
**(Picked up Dennis's father who flew in to join in on the road trip madness)
Indianapolis--> South of Gettysburg
Explore Gettysburg--> Somerset, New Jersey (Just in time for Dennis's first game!)

So we will be having company for the next few days! My dad, Uncle Tim, Richard (den's dad), and Lauren (den's mom) will be here soon! Talk about a party! Can't wait! :)

So to sum it all up, Dennis and I really lucked out in the parent department. They would do anything for us and we are so beyond grateful for them. Not to get too sappy....thanks for driving "Tahee" (our car) out here guys! Love you! :)

Our Wedding!!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and Passover weekend! Back to reality....its Monday! :)

We got some of our pictures back from our WEDDING! woo hoo! I can not believe it has already come and gone and we have been married from 3 months! (going strong people!) Kinda lame that after you have dated and been engaged for so long you have to start over! pshhhh more like 5 years!

So wedding planning was not really my cup of tea. shocker. I had A LOT of help from my sisters, mom, and mother in law which was a lifesaver! Thankfully my sister Jill is a real life wedding planner! With all their help my wedding was everything and more! Here are some of the pictures:

PS. My oldest sister Jill Hudgins (the most detail oriented person ever) is a wedding planner in San Diego, California. She is honestly the most amazing planner, on top of everything and everyone, and makes sure the bride and groom have nothing to worry about except each other and having fun. Give her a shoutout if you need some advice or help for your big day!

Yum.

When Dennis and I were at my parents house in California we did some cooking and came across these delicious and simple biscuits!! We are kind of foodies as you will soon find out....

I found this simple 5 ingredient biscuit recipe on bakerbettie.com and we added some yummy goodness to make them even better! The first batch I made was a cheddar and bacon biscuit and when Dennis ate 5 of them I knew this recipe was a keeper. I loved how the outside of the biscuit was crunchy and the cheese oozed out to make a little crust and the inside was moist and that they really took on the flavor you paired them with. After the first batch were gone (in about 10 min) Dennis asked (almost begged) me to bake another batch. So the second time around I made a black pepper and white cheddar biscuit and Dennis fell in love all over again!

You can find all the details and pictures on bakerbettie.com under the back to bake-sics tab, but here are the ingredients:

2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 TBSP of baking powder
1 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter (cut into small pieces)
1 cup milk

Pre-heat oven to 400F
Whisk together all dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt, and any additional spices or herbs)
Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and work until it is the consistency of chunky sand
Add the milk and any other additional ingredients (cheese, bacon, etc.)
"Drop" the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 16-20min
Once they are cooked feel free to brush them with butter ;)

Oh Bobbi

It's the middle of the week and it is time to freshen up!

I recently bought the bobbi brown corrector in porcelain peach after reading a recommendation from thesmallthingsblog.com and many reviews online. And I must say I am in love. I was never a big makeup, hair, or fashion girl (I was more ponytail and comfy sweats kinda girl) until NOW. I am now on a kick and have really started to enjoy looking presentable more than once a week. With that said, I have been learning and practicing and think I finally have a solid foundation (muahaha) to build on.

Here is my everyday makeup routine. First I apply HD Makeup Forever Primer and apply the bobbi brown corrector under my eyes. I really feel like it brightens my whole face and makes my eyes pop. (P.S. I used it on my mom and she loved it so much that she bought one for herself.) I then blend it in with my beauty blender sponge and use HD Makeup Forever #120 to even out my skin tone and blend it altogether. Next up is bronzer, I use Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (it is a matte bronzing powder that smells like chocolate and I heart it) under my cheekbones and sephora peach fusion blush on my cheekbones. I finish with a little Laura Mercier secret brightening powder to set it all and keep it looking fresh! Lastly, I curl my eyelashes and use L'Oreal Voluminous mascara and I am good to go!

Are you venturing into the beauty world too?? Do you have any favorite products?

Frick it's Monday

WEEKEND RECAP

My mother saw Dr. Oz the other day and it was about spring cleaning. Spring cleaning is all you need to say to get the "original oddo girls" to work. He said if you have not used or worn something in 1 years time to get rid of it. So, that is exactly what we did...

[little background-my family is a little OCD (a lot) when it comes to list making, organizing, and cleaning]

We went through every kitchen cabinet and drawer and then we cleaned out all the boxes in the attic labeled "katie". 3 trash bags later, we felt clutter free....for now.

Tadd, Kelly (my sister & brother in law), Dennis, and I had a sport field day (remember those in middle school!). We played tennis (lets not mention the score) and some intense games of knockout. When Kelly and I could not catch our breath we decided to throw in the towel and call it a day. Then we ordered pizza. So much for working out.

Then Sunday Dennis and I went to the mall for last minute necessities (of course these are necessities). Den's necessities consisted of 2 rad t-shirts and mine were a pair of nikes, urban outfitters dress (on sale $13) yippee, workout top, a headband, and a t-shirt. I'd call that a success.

Later my parents made ribs, coleslaw, and corn on the cob- talk about a last supper. We finished the night by roasting mellows and making s'mores. S'more what?!?! Talk about a great weekend.

Oh and did I mention that we are now on our way to Somerset, New Jersey!?!?! Wish us luck! EEEEEEKKKKKKK :)

Big News!

My wonderful husband and I decided that we are going to Somerset New Jersey for season!!!!!!!

Last year we ended up going to Lincoln, Nebraska for season and we absolutely loved it. We had the option of going there again this year and as much as we loved it, we are ready for a new adventure. It was really hard making a decision to go somewhere we knew nothing about, but we see it as another challenge and glad that we get the opportunity to continue to play baseball. (yes I said we get to play baseball, because frankly I am as invested as he is, just in a different way) So we are now figuring out all the details that go along with moving to New Jersey in 10 days! woo hoo. We really could not be more excited!

In the mean time we are at my parents house (almost all unpacked). My sister Kelly and her husband Tadd live about 10 minutes away which means I get to see my nephew Liam whenever I want. I never knew I could be so obsessed with a little human. Dennis and I have two nephews, Liam (2 months) and Max (9 months) and I am just head over heels in love with them both. I can not even imagine how much love I will have for my own child when it feels like my heart is going to explode with love for my nephews.

We are really enjoying the time at my parents and soaking up all the precious Liam moments. The great thing about New Jersey is that we will be closer to Kelly, Dale, Jay, and Max (Dennis's sisters and brother in law) so I am really looking forward to that.

Other than that, life is great!!! :) I will be posting pictures soon of our road trip so keep an eye out!! Have a wonderful weekend!
Ps. Serious face, how cute are my nephews!!!!

Llama, deer, and donkey oh my

And our road trip continues....

Vegas was so much fun! The Beatles Love show was amazing and we were total party animals and stayed up till 12:30am! Go ahead and call us crazy! We got up early the next day and headed on the next drive to the Grand Canyon! I was disgustingly sick and dennis had a hangover....so you can only imagine how fun this 5 hour drive was :) We explored and took too many pictures and headed to our hotel. The next morning (Monday) we did a hike into the Grand Canyon which was pretty much angled straight down...so on the way up a little chest burn and huffing and puffing was a given.

Then off to the next. We were headed to Bryce Canyon (about a 5 hr. drive that took 7hrs.). It was so beautiful and we saw so many animals along the way. We saw goat, sheep, horse, cow, turkey, llama, deer, and donkey! We had to drive around the canyon so it took extra long, but there were a lot of scenic views that we stopped (especially since Dennis drove the whole time :/). We finally got to Bryce Canyon and checked into our hotel...when we asked for any recommendations for dinner she told us that there was only ONE restaurant open....soooo thats where we decided to eat! Buffet style.

We are now getting reading to explore Bryce Canyon and then we are headed to Salt Lake City for 2 nights then heading home to Sacramento! We are having a great time and making hilarious memories along the way!

Have you gone on a road trip? Where were your favorite stops??
